There is very little "middle class" left. I don't see our business model as capitalism. It's actually opportunism (on the backs of those least able to gain from it).Marilynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09242684348574884384noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21415982.post-80634519172319722552011-04-17T20:11:52.814-06:002011-04-17T20:11:52.814-06:00Thanks for your comment, Lois. And the recent spin by Scott Walker and Fox against teachers and other public workers was unbelievable -- you all work SO hard, for OUR kids, and deserve far more respect, and pay!Anna Learhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11693548595547604405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21415982.post-55613047489937954832011-04-17T18:00:36.428-06:002011-04-17T18:00:36.428-06:00I hear you sister! The worst part about being here is that I have to listen to people actually brag about essentially voting against their own interests. They just are completely snowed by the spin docs. I'm a high school teacher (for 19 years) and this is the worst few years I have ever been through in terms of budget. You made amazing points.Lois Moonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04908293685852842432noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21415982.post-39205870984565286212011-04-16T20:33:05.415-06:002011-04-16T20:33:05.415-06:00Thanks, Anna -- I appreciate your feedback! Dad and I have some great conversations about whether and how "enlightenment" can happen suddenly or is a product of evolution... I look forward to seeing more updates on your life up there in Calgary, though I remember well how totally engrossing (and sometimes exhausting) a little one can be! I hope you're all well and that you're getting some good spring weather.Anna Learhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11693548595547604405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21415982.post-36229043091359631972011-04-16T19:35:21.269-06:002011-04-16T19:35:21.269-06:00Hi Anna,

So sorry to hear you were subjected to such awful behaviour from your fellow citizen. Shame on them. I very much enjoyed reading this piece. Greed and selfishness seem to be the new trend in a lot of Western and Eastern societies. I am still hoping that we will all experience some kind of enlightenment which will push us all to a higher level of humanity. Your piece inspires me to write something to in my blog, which I ignored for months!

Let us hope for better times and thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.Annahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05772067764143211988noreply@blogger.com
